As a mother of two—three if you count our dog (and let’s be honest, we do!)—snow days can
feel like a marathon. Our first year as homeowners was a crash course in everything from
keeping pipes from freezing to keeping the kids entertained, fed, and relatively sane during this
extended winter break. Between breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the five snack requests per child,

by stabilizing your blood sugar? When we skip meals, our stress hormones, like cortisol, can
spike, leaving us feeling irritable and overwhelmed. So, before you serve the kids, fix yourself
something nourishing. Trust me, it helps set the tone for the day.
