1N5 partners with community organizations and universities to normalize mental health and break down the barriers preventing our youth from seeking help. Because every community is unique, there is not a one-size-fits-all model. 

PROGRAM GOALS

  • Create and implement customized, evidence-based mental health programming plans for communities
  • Increase knowledge of signs and symptoms of mental illness and suicide
  • Build protective favors by increasing knowledge of healthy coping skills
  • Decrease the stigma of mental illness and suicide in communities
  • Link at-risk communities to necessary mental health treatment

Needs Assessment and Climate Survey

Initial step of our process

A comprehensive look at school climate involving data collection from students, staff, and caregivers. Plus, a review of all school mental health programs in place. Based on that data and consultation with the school, a comprehensive plan is recommended for the school or district.

On-going Long-Term Support

Monitor and adjust the solution set if/as needed

Regular meetings to assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating outcomes.

Training and Programs

A set of training/programs will be recommended after the Needs Assessment and Climate Survey

Recharge and Reconnect

An interactive presentation designed to support the emotional well-being of teachers. Acknowledges challenges, celebrates success, fosters connections, and nurtures wellness.

1-Hour session
Wellness Campaign

Working with the school wellness group to coordinate ongoing wellness programs and activities for staff.

Mindfulness Coaching for Teachers

Monthly sessions to teach the basic components of a mindfulness practice.

Building Resilience and Protective Factors

A presentation/discussion on how to build resiliency. An upstream look at protective factors and how to build those into a healthy lifestyle. Good for all audiences including students, staff, and parents.

Expert Speakers for Youth, Staff, and/or Parents

Expert speakers to present (virtually or in-person) on topics including signs and symptoms of mental health disorders, self-care, resilience, internet safety, mindfulness, stress management.

Mental Health 101 for Youth, Staff, and/or Parents

Introduces statistics around mental health, the mental health continuum, warning signs, supporting others, local and national resources, and tips for staying mentally healthy.

A series of videos to promote mental health & wellness for educators, caregivers, and youth.

QPR for Staff

Designed to teach teachers, coaches, mentors, or anyone in a position to prevent suicide, how to help save a life.

Designed to teach parents and caregivers, or anyone in a position to prevent suicide, how to help save a life.

🤝 Peer-to-Peer Program
Sources of Strength

The highest quality evidence-based prevention for suicide, violence, bullying, and substance abuse by training, supporting, and empowering both peer leaders and caring adults. Moves beyond a singular focus on risk factors by utilizing an upstream approach that strengthens multiple sources of support (protective factors) around young individuals.

4 hours each for advisors & students + ongoing check-ins
📋 Screener Program
Signs of Suicide (SOS)

A universal, school-based depression awareness and suicide prevention program designed for middle school (ages 11–13) or high-school (ages 13–17) students. Includes student screening that assesses for depression and suicide risk and identifies students to refer for professional help. Also includes a video, Training Trusted Adults, to engage staff, parents, or community members.
